What is Crazy Defense Heroes?

Crazy Defense Heroes is like Crazy Kings (its prequel) but with better features. It’s similar to the Wonder Stone but beats it in every aspect. Crazy Defense Heroes is a beautiful blend of tower defense, RPG, and collectible card gaming. It’s a game that’s too good to be true, only that it is.

You’ll be tasked with creating an army (or building your defense) and fighting hordes of evil enemies, placing towers across the map, casting spells, and upgrading your cards and hero alike as the battles rage on in this anime-inspired game. That being said, by going through this Crazy Defense Heroes guide, you will learn the key elements of the gameplay and all you need to know to finally play and earn!

This IOS game, Crazy Defense Heroes, was created by Animoca Brands, and as is their style, it comes with simple graphics and gameplay that would appeal to casual gamers like me.

A major selling point of Crazy Defense Heroes is that there are over 90 cards to acquire, including Hero Cards, Tower Cards, and Spell Cards, as well as over 500 levels that the creators have promised to “test your mettle and mind for tactics.”

Alongside that, there is a social feature where you can develop meaningful relationships with other gamers from all over the world. I guess I’ll see you around!

By the way, here are links to download the game if you aren’t already among the 20million+ downloaders the game boasts of.

For we crypto enthusiasts, there’s some excellent news! If you didn’t know, Crazy Defense Heroes isn’t just free-to-play, but a blockchain-powered play-to-earn version was released recently. More info on both versions, how to get ahead in the game, and certain gameplay modes will be covered further down in this article. Stay tuned.

Free to Play Vs. Play-to-Earn Version Explained

With a market capitalization of more than $1 billion, Animoca Brands are considered a unicorn, and Crazy Defense Heroes is one of their first attempts at converting a free-to-play mobile game into a play-to-earn game.

In transitioning to the play-to-earn version of the game, the creators have allowed us to link our accounts to our cryptocurrency wallets. This allows us players to claim our TOWER prizes for playing the game.

If you acquire enough experience points in a month, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a prize pool of TOWER tokens. In a month, the reward pool could be as much as $170,000.

Players who do not link their accounts will be unable to claim their prizes. The TOWER tokens forfeited will be awarded to eligible players who completed the connection process.

How to Link Your Account

  • To begin, you must first download and set up a Metamask wallet. There is no need to download a new one if you already have one.
  • Click on “connect” on the crazy defense heroes website.
  • Access your CDH account by logging in (it must be the same account you used during the play-to-earn activities.)
  • On the website, link your metamask wallet to your Crazy Defense Heroes ID.

How to Earn on Crazy Defense Heroes

Aside from regular CDH XP gain Play-to-Earn events, players can earn tower tokens and also earn from XP Gain events and Star Chest events.

XP Gain Events

Every month, 1,200,000 TOWER tokens are issued! To be eligible for a part of the award pool, you must have earned at least 315,000 avatar Experience Points (XP) in Crazy Defense Heroes at the end of each month.

For instance, if you began in February with 250,000 XP (Avatar Level 20), you would need at least 565,000 XP (Around Avatar Level 29) by the end of February to be eligible to earn the February TOWER token rewards; after which, by the end of March, you will need at least 880,000 XP (Around Avatar Level 34) to be eligible to receive the March rewards. You can have a look at the cumulative experience table here.

Star Chest Events

Since December 1, 2021, the creators have made it possible for us to receive additional TOWER tokens EVERY DAY by unlocking a Star Chest in the game. The longer we play, the more treasure chests we earn! Beautiful, yeah?

Here’s a bit on how that works:
  • To get a chest, gather 16 stars from fights in a day (you can get up to 3 stars per battle depending on your performance)
  • Click “Chests” in the Menu Bar
  • Locate “Star Chest” and select “Open.”
  • Players must visit the TOWER Token website after opening a premium battle Chest in the game and complete a calendar check-in that same day (UTC zone) otherwise, their achievement will not be recorded. Also, the cooldown period to unlock daily chests is 16 hours.

Where Can You Buy Crazy Defense Heroes NFTs?

Cards are the fundamental components in Crazy Defense Heroes. Each represents defensive constructions, heroes, unique spells, and tactically employed equipment to keep swarms of foes from approaching your fortress.

Each Game Card is a non-fungible ERC-20 token with varying power and rarity that can be upgraded to ensure long-term progression. There are currently four rarity tiers:

Common\Rare\Epic\Legendary

For the time being, you can only sell and purchase NFTs of Crazy Defense Heroes on OpenSea.io, a secondary marketplace for trading NFTs. The current starting price for a Crazy Defense Heroes Card is 0.49 ETH.

Animoca sponsored two official TOWER Chest Sales in May 2021, each with 650 various chests available in three levels — Bronze, Silver, and Gold — and each containing three random TOWER Game Card NFTs.

On November 5, 2021, the TOWER project also began a series of NFT sales on Binance NFT, including TOWER Tickets and TOWER Mystery Boxes.

What is TOWER?

TOWER is the native utility token that serves as the foundation for all transactions and interactions inside the Crazy Defense Heroes game. It is based on the Ethereum network and is now priced at $0.03243 on CoinMarketCap. TOWER Ticket holders will be able to redeem certain types of Game Card NFTs to redeem game items.

Note that the Game Card NFTs gained with TOWER Tickets will have different utilities from those obtained through TOWER Chests. Some of the most common towers in the game are the following;

Pirate tower, archer tower, and sniper tower.

The Four Game Modes

Crazy Defense Heroes allows players to put their abilities to the test in over 1,000 levels of fierce tower defense mayhem. You may use a vast range of heroes, spells, towers, and equipment to defend against swarms of attackers across four difficulty modes:

  • Normal
  • Hard – Level 9
  • Crazy – Level 35
  • Nightmare – Level 60

How Do Cards Work

You’ll receive prizes for each battle you win, including cash, jewels, or resources for your upgrade recipes. These resources and upgrade recipes are utilized for your cards, and it will be critical for you to improve your cards with them as you ascend the difficulty modes.

Like I said in the intro, there are over 90 cards to acquire, including Tower Cards, Spell Cards, and over 500 levels that the creators have promised to “test your mettle and mind for tactics.”

Here is a brief on each of those cards.

Tower Cards

Tower Cards are Battle Cards positioned on Tower Spots assigned to each level. Tower Cards have varied attack ranges and unique Abilities that may be unlocked by upgrading your Cards. Tower Cards are the primary means of preventing hordes of attackers from approaching your stronghold.

While most Hero Cards thrive in close combat, Towers excel at ranged damage. Though they differ in design and ability, most attack Tower Cards are excellent at dealing damage to a large number of foes throughout a wave.

Spell Cards

Spell Cards contain a wide range of abilities, including enormous area destruction, powerful summonings, freezing and knocking back of foes, and hero-boosting abilities. All Spell Cards have a “Card cooldown” duration during which they may only be used once.

Offensive Spell Cards can strike many foes in one go, but the attack radius and damage are dependent on your ability to effectively summon the spells in the right position on the battlefield. On the other hand, Defensive Spell Cards can slow down foes or aid Heroes or Towers.

Hero Cards

These cards are attacking units that can be moved virtually anywhere on the battlefield. But unlike Tower cards, they are vulnerable and can faint during combat. After fainting, they will be automatically revived over time, or you can choose to restore them using gems instantaneously.

Once they resurrect, they regain total health at the spot they fainted. The price for revival begins at one gem and doubles with consequent revivals.

Equipment Cards

Equipment cards are used to customize an avatar’s attributes and looks. Each equipment card affects your avatar’s skills, such as attack damage, motion speed, defense, and even health restoration.

However, your character can wear one piece of equipment at a time.

To be victorious in battle, you should deploy each card on your character. You do this by going to the Card menu and selecting the Avatar menu. Helmet, Armor, Shield, Boots, Accessory, and Weapon are the six categories of equipment cards.

Like other cards, they may be improved, but they are distinct in that each piece of equipment has its own set of materials.

Upgrading Your Deck With Gold & Gems

You begin with a minimal battle deck, just enough to learn the main game principles. You must go far in the campaign and get more resources before you can start to assemble a strong hand. This is where gold and gems come in.

All cards are upgraded using resources and gold. Each upgrade enhances the card’s potency at a fixed rate (e.g., +0.4 percent slowdown power per level), but the cost of the upgrade and other resources grow continually.

As you play, wherever you find a Merchant selling Gold Chests for Gems, always buy one. The first one costs 20 Gems and has a gold value of 90-150K. Also, always take advantage of Battle Chests for Gold. The first one is worth $75,000 in gold. If you buy a Premium Chest for 400 Gems, you’ll likely obtain a two-star card.

Sure, there’s a potential to receive higher-tier cards, but speaking from experience, that’s unlikely. So a random 2-star card for 20 Gems should suffice. Duplicates duplicate cards while also moving you closer to a guaranteed 3-star card: 20 copies cost precisely 400 Gems (assuming you go for the lowest deal) and guarantees a 3-star card chest.

How to Earn Gold & Gems

Battle Strategy and Formation

Crazy Defense Heroes has simple graphics and appears to have straightforward gameplay but don’t be mistaken. It’s as cognitive as it gets. If it were that mundane, we wouldn’t have come up with this guide and still have some more detailed ones on the way.

Each level is unique, and you must always come up with the perfect mix of cards and tricks to be victorious. Here is some strategic information to help you get ahead in the game without much talk. P.S.: I get to take half of your spoils (winks)

Scout Your Enemy, Then Access The Bestiary

When the stages are simple, and you can obtain three stars with your eyes closed. But as it gets progressively harder, you’ll need to start preparing ahead of time by scouting your opponent.

This will reveal the precise amount of foes of each appropriate category that you can expect in a round, and with that knowledge, you should have a clear notion of what towers to place before the fight.

Usually, this would imply concentrating on the escape locations by erecting rarer towers that cost more Mana to construct. Still, if you encounter a lot of low-level adversaries, you don’t need to worry about tower rarity.

Pause and Study Your Enemies

The fight screen’s pause menu includes a link to the Bestiary, which contains all of the details and information about foes you’ve already met. You’ll find how many hit points they have, what special attacks they employ, and how much damage they inflict.

You’ll also find out how many hearts they’ll cost you if you let them escape. Yup, you heard me right – once you reach a particular level, some foes will cost you more than one heart. My advice: Don’t let them near your fridge!

Position Your Avatar and Allies Near Ascape Spots.

I established that frequently, you will not have enough mana to put up towers in the most tough stages, forcing you to make only a few structures. Due to the paucity of firepower of the towers, you’ll most likely need to be active during the opening waves of enemy attacks. To prevent attackers from fleeing, I propose positioning your avatar and allies near escape spots.

Take Part in Raids

Raids become accessible after your avatar reaches level 6, and they are essentially the same fights as in campaign mode, although with varying difficulties: Easy, Medium, and Difficult. If you want to earn evolution materials, which are used to categorize one of your cards, you should engage in Raids. While Evolution Supplies can rarely be obtained during campaign fights or by unlocking chests, Raids emphasize them as the primary sort of reward.

Strategically Locate Your Poison Tower

I love to pair a couple of strong Poison Towers and place them near the start of the lane, as that is the perfect position to maximize them. I usually install Pirate Towers towards the end of the lane, but because I don’t always have enough Mana at the beginning of a game, I don’t always place them at the early stages.

So till then, I do rely on the poison damage of Poison Towers as they are one of the best towers at annihilating virtually anything they strike. I’d deploy the Sniper Tower near intersections and in regions where they may take over numerous lanes in a difficult campaign mode.

If you have other strategies working for you, or you have some ideas to build on mine, kindly share them in the comments section.

How to Get Involved

Early this month, Amoinaca Brands announced better rewards for March and April 2022 (1,800,000 TOWER tokens.) And besides TOWER tokens, players will be able to earn Tower Map NFTs. That’s a lot of goodies if you ask me.

All I can tell you right now is to get your fingers blistered by playing the current edition of Crazy Defense Heroes, which allows you to acquire vital insight into the game’s mechanics, become acquainted with the battle card system, and fine-tune your defense plans. This way, you won’t number among the noobs when the actual blockchain version, which will be on P.C., arrives.

So, I guess the fact that we are allowed to collect TOWER tokens from monthly cumulative events by playing the current version should suffice. If you already have Crazy Defense Heroes NFTs or plan to purchase them on the secondary market, they will only be usable in the game’s forthcoming blockchain edition. Till then, we battle!
